About

Hi, I’m Evelyn Rose Smith, welcome to Gather and Cook!

I’ve always believed the best conversations happen around the kitchen table. I grew up in a noisy house where dinner was less about perfect plating and more about everyone crowding around, grabbing a seat, and sharing stories over whatever my mom had managed to pull together.

Funny enough, I didn’t set out to start a food blog. For a long time, cooking was something I did to get through the week, quick dinners after work, messy attempts at baking that rarely looked like the photos. But somewhere between burning my first loaf of banana bread and finally nailing my grandmother’s chicken soup, I realized that food had become more than fuel for me. It was memory, comfort, and a way of caring for people I loved.

When friends started asking for “that pasta recipe you made last week” or my version of a Sunday pot roast, I decided to put everything in one place. That’s how Gather and Cook was born, not as a polished recipe archive, but as a collection of the meals I actually make in my own kitchen, with all the little shortcuts and honest mishaps included.

I’m 35 now, and cooking has turned into my favorite ritual. Some nights it’s a slow simmer that fills the kitchen with comforting smells, other nights it’s scrambling to get something kid-friendly on the table before bedtime chaos. Either way, it’s real life, and if you’re here, I imagine that’s what you’re looking for too.

So whether you’re an experienced cook or just trying to figure out how not to burn garlic (been there), I hope you find a recipe here that makes your kitchen feel a little warmer, your table a little fuller, and your week a little easier.

Pull up a chair! There’s always room at the table.
